We’ve been fortunate enough to come into a limited number of these — the real deal! No joke! Straight from the indigenous markets of Cusco, Peru, where Abby is working on her latest book and a few other textile projects! She hasn’t been able to get any of these for over 5 years — until now. We also don’t know when we’ll be able to get them next.
These particular ones are super light and small, and suited for fine spinning — they are still preferred by Andean spinners today, when they can be found, for the finest work with the finest fibers. These weigh between 8 and 12 grams, and are a real delight.
Featuring hand-carved whorls of Chachacoma wood, and hand-carved shafts of varied Andean woods, these are the classic old-fashioned style of workhorse spindles used by Andean spinners in producing some of the finest textiles the world has ever known, in an unbroken tradition going back thousands of years.
Move fast, we have a very limited number!
